Legacy GE, live outages
The MS5001, the machine most Iranian stores still call Frame 5, still turns on industrial sites and on some power units. Original-equipment attention has moved to later frames. The outage has not. Aftermarket new-make and repair are the normal commercial path on this vintage, provided dimensional inspection and alloy are written down. Do not order «پره فریم پنج» without the stage and without saying rotating or stationary. Below are three plant-style cases — buckets and nozzles, combustion on its own lines, and a store that mixed MS5002 — then new-make versus repair versus HIP, then a filled request.
Alloys on the turbine rows sit in the usual nickel set. IN738LC is the grade most buyers already know; cousins appear on some vanes and later stages. The risk on this frame is not that aftermarket is exotic. The risk is a shop that copies a worn sample too faithfully and pours last interval’s thin wall. Euroturbine restores the nominal stack-up, then inspects. Hot isostatic pressing, written HIP in the shop, can help when the alloy and the remaining wall allow it. Hours and the last inspection report decide that, not the age of the frame.

Case 1 — Industrial MS5001, buckets and nozzles as separate lines
Industrial drives and older generating sets keep this machine on the calendar. Original-equipment lots for some rows are slow or gone. That is why aftermarket wins on lead time and price, not because the geometry is trivial. A mature airfoil still needs a heat number, a coating record if the row is coated, and a dimensional report. Treat it as a planned-outage part. Freeze the list when the date is known, the same way you would on a later E-class frame.
An industrial MS5001 site opens a hot-gas-path outage. The list is first-stage buckets, OEM number from the last report, quantity for a full row, then second-stage buckets on the next line, then nozzle segments on their own lines, then shrouds. Rotating or stationary is written on each line. A line that only says Frame 5 blade is how a second-stage bucket is priced as a first-stage part. Euroturbine will not guess the stage.
Case 2 — Combustion liners sit on their own clock
Combustion liners and cans fail by oxidation, cracking and coating loss, not by the same clock as a rotating bucket. They should sit on their own original-equipment numbers. Buying only blades because the store already has a blade conversation will not restart a unit that already had a temperature-spread complaint. Photograph each liner as it comes off. Mark crack ends if you can.
The same MS5001 industrial site adds liners as their own lines: OEM numbers, quantity, hours, photographs of the hot face, new-make or repair. Euroturbine prices that as combustion, not as a footnote under turbine blades.
Case 3 — The store mixed MS5002 into the Frame 5 bin
MS5002 is the two-shaft mechanical-drive cousin. Duty, hours and part numbers differ. Stores that grew up saying Frame 5 for every GE five-series machine send the wrong nozzles. Use the nameplate. If the plate is missing, send a photograph of the row and the driven train so engineering can see whether you have a generating set or a mechanical-drive machine. Euroturbine will not assume interchange from the word پنج.
A compressor-station neighbour sends nozzles tagged Frame 5. The plate on that machine is MS5002. Euroturbine sends the list back and asks for the MS5002 numbers. The industrial MS5001 outage on the first site keeps its own bill.
Result 1 — New-make
This is the job when the wall is gone, the OEM lot is slow or gone, or only part of the set is scrap and you need new serials to fill the row. Supply is make-to-order unless a current lot already matches your numbers. Ask with the OEM numbers, not with the nickname Frame 5. We date a lot after we see the numbers, not from a rumour that Frame 5 parts sit on a shelf.
The industrial MS5001 site has a first-stage bucket at scrap thickness. Euroturbine writes new-make for that serial. Sister buckets with remaining wall stay on a repair line. One price for «پره فریم پنج» does not cover both.
Result 2 — Repair
This is the job when remaining wall is enough, NDT is clean enough, and the row can return with blend, an allowed weld, or strip and recoat. If only part of the set is scrap, a mixed repair and new-make quote is normal. Hours alone are not this permit.
The same MS5001 industrial site has second-stage buckets with coating loss and wall still inside limit. Euroturbine writes strip and recoat, not a foundry slot. The scrap first-stage serial from result 1 stays new-make.
Result 3 — HIP
Hot isostatic pressing follows the same gate as on other E-class cousins: alloy and remaining wall, plus hours and the last NDT. When those close, HIP can sit on the same visit as a repair. When they do not, we change the job to new-make. A Frame 5 nickname is not a HIP permit.
A nozzle segment from that MS5001 set has internal porosity inside the accepted envelope, alloy recipe known, wall enough. Euroturbine writes HIP plus inspect. If the porosity sits outside the envelope, that serial becomes new-make.
What a complete Frame 5 request looks like
Nameplate: MS5001 — write those letters, not only Frame 5. Site duty: industrial drive or generating set. Lines: stage-1 buckets, OEM number, quantity, hours; stage-2 buckets the same way; nozzles and shrouds on their own lines; liners or cans on their own lines. Job per line: new-make, repair, or HIP if remaining wall and alloy allow it. Photographs of a sample root if the tag is gone. Last inspection and coating record if the parts have already run. Outage date. Euroturbine will keep MS5002 off the same page.

A mature frame is easy to underestimate. The geometry is known. The data pack is still what makes the part plant-defensible.
Frequently asked questions
Is Frame 5 the same machine as MS5002?
No. MS5002 is the two-shaft mechanical-drive cousin. Geometry, duty and part numbers differ. Read the nameplate and do not copy a generating-set bill of materials onto a compressor-station machine.
Can hot isostatic pressing help Frame 5 buckets?
When the alloy and the remaining wall allow it, the same rule as other E-class cousins applies. Send fired hours and the last inspection report. Hours alone are not a permit.
Do you keep Frame 5 rows in stock?
Sometimes a current lot matches the number you need. The default is make-to-order or repair-to-order. Ask with the original-equipment numbers and we will say what exists in writing.
